Excellent correspondent for Blue Planet Almanac, Kitty Dill, introduced us to celebrated cartoonist Steve Greenberg’s wonderfully pointed art. Featured often in respected publications including the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the San Francisco Chronicle and the Los Angeles Times, Steve’s work has just been published in his first book of pointed observations, Fine-Tooning the Planet, which includes a forward by Denis Hayes, coordinator of the first Earth Day.
Above’s a little sample for you below, titled “Fossil Fuels.” This cartoon appeared in the Ventura County Reporter this year.
Although I didn’t tell him who my guests this month would be, Steve clearly had inspired guidance in his selection of this month’s example of his work. On August 24th I’ll be talking with Terry Tamminen, secretary emeritus of California’s Environmental Protection Agency. Terry will be discussing the decades of research and advocacy behind his spectacular work, including his enlightening book, Lives Per Gallon, which discusses our addiction to petroleum and how to solve it.
Steve and me will be posting one of his toons every month or so for your bemusement at our own follies and triumphs.
